Do I need to go to a specific DecoStation to check out a bike?
NO. You can check a DecoBike out from ANY station in the City.
Do I need to return my DecoBike to the same station I check it out from?
NO. You can return your DecoBike to ANY station with empty docking points/parking spots.
What happens if my DecoBike is stolen from me while cycling?
You should contact the Miami Beach Police Department immediately to file a police and notify DecoBike of the incident. You are responsible for the replacement cost of the bike if lost or stolen as well as providing DecoBike with a copy of the police report within 7 days.
What happens if I am injured while riding?
Since you are riding at your own risk, being careful is always the best rule. In the event that you are injured for any reason while on riding any bicycle, you should dial 911 immediately to seek emergency assistance from Police and Fire Departments.
Does DecoBike provide any type of insurance coverage or benefits to users of the program?
No. DecoBike expressly does not provide any type of insurance to the user of any kind. You cycle at your own risk, so be informed of procedures and regulations for the safe operation of a bicycle.
I have never ridden a bicycle before, should I rent a DecoBike?
No. DecoBike is for experienced and knowledgeable bicycle riders only, ages 18 and over. You must know how to operate a bicycle safely before using DecoBike. DecoBike is not liable for a user's lack of experience or knowledge.
What happens if I get a flat tire (or another major component stops working) while using a DecoBike?
You should return the bike to the closest DecoStation which has available docking points and lock it into place and call the DecoBike hotline to report the bike as damaged (be sure to have the bike's four-digit ID# ), then:
  • If you are a Subscription Member with a BeachPASS or are using a 1-Day or 5-Day Pass, you can then check out another bike from any station starting 15 minutes after returning and reporting the damaged bike.
  • If you are renting a DecoBike on an hourly basis, you can checkout another bike by repeating the checkout & billing process at any DecoStation (another deposit would be held for its safe return). DecoBike may at its sole discretion provide a credit to the user.
(in any event no more than 2 bikes may be checked out with the same credit card)
Who gets the revenues generated by the DecoBike Miami Beach program?
The City of Miami Beach and DecoBike, LLC. share the revenues generated by the program.
Can I transfer or loan the DecoBike and/or user card (BeachPass) to a friend or any other person?
No. You are not permitted under any circumstances to transfer or loan a DecoBike or DecoBike user card. Only the authorized and named subscriber can use the DecoBike or the user card.
How many DecoBike can I check out with a single credit card (non-subscription members)?
Currently, a maximum of two (2) DecoBikes are permitted to be checked out on any one credit card or check card at a given time.
Do I have to wear a helmet to use DecoBike?
Florida law does not require adult riders (ages 18 and over) to wear a helmet. DecoBike does however strongly recommend the use of helmets at all times when riding any bicycle. It is the user's responsibility to obtain a helmet if desired. DecoBike has helmets available (at a cost) at both DecoStore locations (addresses).
Who takes care of the DecoBikes and DecoStations?
DecoBike, LLC is the entity charged with maintaining operating the DecoBike program, on behalf of the City of Miami Beach.
Can I ride my DecoBike on the sidewalk?
For the most part, bikes are allowed on the sidewalks in Miami Beach, with the exception of 2 locations (see link/map). All riders must use caution when when entering or leaving crosswalks, roadways and/or sidewalks. Bike riders must yield right of way to pedestrians.
Is there a map showing streets, bike lanes, bus stops and parking garage locations in Miami Beach?

Are DecoBikes equipped with locks?
No. At this time locks are not supplied to users. It is the user's responsibility to lock and secure the DecoBike at all times. Locks can be obtained (at a small cost) at both DecoStore locations in South Beach.
How long can I use a DecoBike for?
You can use DecoBike for the time period you purchased or subscribed for (either 30 or 60 minutes) without any additional charges. If you keep the bike checked out longer than your purchased time frame, additional fees will be applied to your account/transaction. See User Agreement for full details.
Can I use a DecoBike anywhere?
You can ride DecoBike everywhere inside the city limits of Miami Beach (7 square miles approx). You are NOT permitted to leave the City of Miami Beach on (or with) a DecoBike. You are NOT permitted to ride over the bridges/causeways to enter the Downtown Miami area.
Can the Police stop me if I try to leave the City of Miami Beach on a DecoBike?
Yes. Miami Beach Police, City of Miami Police and the Miami-Dade Metro Police Departments are all authorized to stop and detain anyone trying to leave Miami Beach on or with a DecoBike. It is a Felony to steal or destroy a DecoBike, and is punishable by at least one year in jail and/or a severe financial fine and civil action.
IMPORTANT LEGAL & POLICE NOTICE: Miami Beach Police, City of Miami Police and the Miami-Dade Metro Police Departments are all authorized to stop and detain anyone trying to leave Miami Beach on or with a DecoBike. Remember this is a Public Mode of Transportation-it is YOURS to use-- so please treat it with respect as you would your own property. It is a felony to steal or destroy a DecoBike and violators will be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Please report any theft or vandalism to the Miami Beach Police by dialing 911 or to the DecoBike Miami Beach hotline (33333333).
What is DECOBIKE?
DecoBike is a self-service, automated bicycle sharing and rental program implemented by the City of Miami Beach and operated by DecoBike, LLC. It is a city-wide program and operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Initially the program will consist of 90 solar-powered DecoStations and 900 DecoBikes.
What are the Operating Hours for the DecoBike Program?
The program operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. It is however at the discretion of the DecoBike operators and/or the City of Miami Beach to temporarily suspend some or all services should any unsafe conditions or security issues arise.
What is the Monthly price of a DecoBike Membership Subscription (aka the "BeachPASS")?
$15 per month (unlimited usage)
Will my employer pay for my DecoBike subscription if I ride it to work?

Does the Federal Government provide financial incentives to Employers for riding a bicycle to work?
YES! Federal tax incentives can cover 100% of the cost of a DecoBike Subscription Membership.
How old do you have to be to use DecoBike?
DecoBike is only for users 18 years of age and older. Miami Beach Police are authorized to stop and ask for proof of age from any individual on or in possession of a DecoBike who clearly appears to be under 18 years of age. If violator is found to be under the age of 18, he/she DecoBike must be immediatey return the bike to a DecoStation under Police supervision and an official Police Report Shall be filed in the public record. Violators will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
If the DecoBike is too big or too small for my height or body type, should I ride it anyway?
No. Do not attempt to use DecoBike unless you are comfortable and feel safe on the bike.
I want to buy a helmet or a lock, where can I get one?
There are two DecoStores which sell helmets, locks and other related accessories. DecoStore locations and hours (click here for map & hours) You can also purchase a helmet or aaccessories from any other retailer to suit your taste or needs.
Does the DecoBike have brakes on it?
Yes. The DecoBike is equipped with a front-wheel hand brake (activated by pressing on a lever on the handlebars to stop the bike) AND a rear-wheel coaster brake (activated by pedaling backwards to stop the bike).
Is it safe to use DecoBike at night time or in the dark?
With proper safety precautions and awareness of your surroundings, DecoBike can be safely operated at night time. DecoBikes are equipped with reflectors and self-generating LED lights for safety and convenience. You must exercise extreme caution when riding any bicycle in an urban setting at night time or in dark, low-visibility conditions.

What happens if I accidentally checkout a DecoBike that is damaged?
You are prohibited from using or operating a damaged DecoBike under any circumstances. You must return the damaged bike to a DecoStation. If this happens, please notify DecoBike of any issues. You can check out another by using your BeachPASS user card again 15 minutes after reporting and returning the damaged bike.
Are DecoBikes always available at every DecoStation?
No. Although there is a great supply of DecoBikes, occasional fluctuations in user demand patterns may cause a particular DecoStation to either be empty or full. If you are trying to return a DecoBike and a station is full, please go nearest station with vacant docking points/parking spots and (a map of all DecoStation locations is on the kiosk; the DecoBike website & iPhone Application show locations and inventory). Do NOT leave the DecoBike unsecured.
