DECOBIKE is the Official City of MiamI Beach Public Bicycle Sharing & Rental Program. It’s a GREEN program aimed at going back to basics, but in a new and exciting way. DECOBIKE replaces the need for cars and taxis for short, local trips. It’s here to save you time and money, as well as your body and planet.
Automated public bike sharing programs are a relatively new concept. European examples in world-class such cities as Barcelona and Paris have proven a tremendous success with a continuing, massive demand. The programs have inspired millions to utilize a custom, public bike for short local trips instead of cars or taxis. Simply stated, if you put bikes in the streets, riders will follow.
Being the forward thinking community that it is, the City of Miami Beach (home to the world-famous South Beach) sought to bring this amazing concept to its residents and visitors. DECOBIKE is not just an amenity for tourists, it’s actually a city-wide public transportation system that is open for all adults to use. There is simply no better way to enjoy South Beach than on a DECOBIKE, whether you are commuting or just taking leisurely cruise.
To bring this concept to a reality, the City of Miami Beach entered into a long-term agreement with DECOBIKE, LLC. to install and operate a customized public bicycle sharing program that meets all the needs of the community. DECOBIKE is a joint-venture firm aimed at a providing world-class bike sharing programs in Miami and abroad.
Founded by a group of local residents and businessmen, DECOBIKE understands the needs and wants of the community. “Parking and traffic congestion is a huge issue in Miami Beach. DECOBIKE is here to help eliminate those headaches. Do you really need a car or taxi to go a few blocks to grab a bite to eat or to run errands? DECOBIKE solves all of these issues while also helping improve your fitness level. It’s a win-win situation,” says DECOBIKE's Bonifacio Diaz.
“Having experienced public bike programs in numerous countries in Europe and Asia over the past several years, we felt that this really is the new wave in public transit. The benefits are many, whether it is to save time commuting, to save money on parking, or to preserve our air quality. Bike sharing is quickly becoming recognized as very desirable feature for leading cities of the world and now it is our turn to paint the streets in GREEN,” stated Ricardo Pierdant of DECOBIKE.
DECOBIKE debuts this Fall 2010. Check back for updates and be sure to follow DECOBIKE on Twitter and become a fan on Facebook:

RETURN RECEIPTS: Receipts are available for each DECOBIKE return, however they are optional since we strive to save as many trees as possible (plus our software maintains the appropriate records and data so that we don't need to print everything). If you still wish to receive a return receipt, you must go to the kiosk and initiate a "Return with Receipt" transaction before docking your DECOBIKE back into a station (or you can skip the receipt process by simply docking the bike back into any station)."
